Welcome to the 2015 season at Sawmill Lake Fly Fishing!
We had an early start again this year and a late update again this year... oops, been a little busy getting ready for the season we are already in the middle of. The fishing continues to be great and the dry fly action still top notch! Nymphing is always an option but not needed if you have patience and can take the time to find the cruising surface feeders. Don't expect trout in a barrel, these fish will get picky later in the season but the challenge can't be beat. With the second and more extreme year of drought conditions and the effects it is having on the rivers, Sawmill Lake should once again be a great option going into the latter part of the Summer. I can't wait for the cool down this Fall which should really turn these fish on! Join us for some fun action either guided or on your own, Sawmill Lake Fly Fishing is in the middle of another fine year. The rivers might close but Sawmill Lake will always be an opportunity so book your reservations now and enjoy a fun filled day surrounded by a Ponderosa Pine Forest where the wildlife abounds!
Thank you,
Victor Babbitt

Welcome to the 2014 season at Sawmill Lake Fly Fishing!
We had an early start this year and a late update about the Lake... oops, been a little busy this Spring. The fishing has been great and the dry fly action still top notch! There are those that fish this lake deep but I think it is a dry fly paradise. Cruising fish looking up for the opportunity to eat off of the surface, it just doesn't get any better. Don't expect trout in a barrel, these fish can be picky later in the season but the challenge can't be beat. Welcome to the 2013 season at Sawmill Lake Fly Fishing!
The Lake is now open and in full operation and the hatches are incredible. Calibaetis and Damsels have been the main hatches with a few midges around as well. There have been a few changes here at the Lake this season and first and foremost Joe Cerniglia is trying to retire and has turned over the daily operations to Vic tor Babbitt at Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters (530)-541-8208. Joe is still involved for the time being but really wants to hang with his Grandchildren as much as he can. Expect to see Joe up at the lake on occasion but he will be fazing out of the day to day fishing as TFFO takes over. Guided fishing trips are available as well as daily access for fishing on your own. Rates have stayed the same for the 2013 season with all bookings being don e through TFFO. Please give us a call if you have questions and we would be glad to accommodate your requests!

First Rods of the Season on the Lake
Dave and a friend were the first to fish Sawmill Lake today. Looking forward to them posting their catches up here soon...
At 8:00 am this morning there was a lot of fish on the raise. A few new hatches were starting.
With all this beautiful warm weather here at NorthStar at Tahoe, the remaining snow around the lake is melting fast. Shore fishing should be taking off in the next week or so, for those fly fisherman that would rather stalk their catch.
Can't wait to get the 1,000 lbs of Donaldson Rainbows (a madriver steelhead and a rainbow mix) that we will be putting in the lake Monday June 20, along with all the holdovers. Should be a great season with all the water!
